Powering Community Resilience: Why DOMOTO Partners with Keep the Lights on Colorado

In Colorado, one in five households faces a steep energy burden—spending a disproportionate share of their gross income just to keep power on and homes at safe temperatures. As electricity rates in Colorado have surged 22.2% alongside compounding inflation on groceries, gas and healthcare, lower-income families are forced into impossible daily decisions between keeping the lights on or putting food on the table.

That is why our team has proudly stood alongside fellow Certified B Corporation (B Corp) partner Namasté Solar as a Promoter Level sponsor for the 7th annual Keep the Lights on Colorado campaign.

DOMOTO has participated in this campaign for three years. Created by Namasté Solar, Keep the Lights on Colorado brings local businesses and community members together aiming to raise $50,000 every October for Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC), a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding equitable energy access statewide.

Solar Energy as a Tool for Equity

The 2026 campaign aims to support 130 Colorado households facing energy insecurity or utility disconnection. Since 2020, the initiative has raised more than $365,000 and assisted over 1,200 families.

The funds raised direct immediate bill payment relief and long-term community solar subscriptions to low-income residents. Community solar allows families, renters and homeowners who cannot afford rooftop panels to access clean energy bill credits that lower monthly utility costs over the long haul. With a benchmark donation of $375 directly supporting one household, contributing to this campaign – even in a small way – provides immediate stability and year-long solar bill credits for multiple local families. Because community solar generates long-term bill credits, each subscription provides significant annual savings—effectively multiplying the financial impact of every dollar contributed while expanding clean, renewable energy across our local grid.

Living Our B Corp Values Through Action

Guided by our core values of Intention and Integrity, our investment in clean energy equity helps address immediate economic distress for local families while advancing the long-term decarbonization of Colorado’s built environment. This holistic approach reflects what it means to be a Certified B Corp—using business as a force for good to build community wealth, protect human health and foster regional resilience.

Bridging Purpose and Practical Impact

Addressing climate change and energy insecurity requires collective action across corporate, non-profit and civic boundaries. Partnering with purpose-driven leaders like Namasté Solar and Energy Outreach Colorado allows us to amplify our impact, proving that environmental sustainability and human well-being are deeply interconnected.

We challenge you to join us by donating to the Keep the Lights on Colorado campaign, or directly to Energy Outreach Colorado at any time throughout the year.
